How to perform a Full biometric verification and PEP and Sanctions check

Performing a Biometric verification on your clients

Updated over a year ago

Firmcheck allows you to do a full biometric and PEP check on your client.

If the party is linked with multiple entities, we recommend that you merge any duplicate contacts before undertaking a biometric verification check. See our support article on the People Tab for guidance on how to do this.

1. In the AML/CFT>Perform CDD tab within the Identity verification of the person click

collect & verify.

Tip: ensure the party is selected in CDD candidates

2. Click on Identity info under 'Firm only', and select 'Start adding evidence' or 'Collect evidence to start a new determination' if the ID has been previously uploaded.

3. Under the 'add electronic evidence' section, click on Full biometric verification and PEP and Sanctions check

4. Complete all details in the Biometric request form - First name, Last name and Email address will auto-populate should the person already have this information in their Firmcheck profile.

If you wish to have the report password protected, you can choose this option under the "report security" dropdown. (Please note you will be responsible for remembering the password set, as Firmcheck are unable to retrieve or reset this.)

Tick 'I understand that the content of this report will be visible to anyone with access to this person's profile.'

Once details are completed select 'Send Biometric Request'.

5. At this point, the client will be emailed an invite link which they can use to complete the biometric check. (It's important to note here that the invite link is only valid for 7 days before it expires. The firm will be charged for the check whether it is completed or not.) If the check is not completed within 7 days, a new request will need to be sent and paid for.

6. Once the biometric verification check has been completed by the client, the firm staff member who requested the check will receive an email to advise. The firm staff member can access the results by clicking on the link in the email - this will take them to the individual's profile, where they can access the identity information tab.

7. To access the full report, click on the attachment icon, and then on the file name. (If you requested the report to be password protected on the earlier screen, you will be prompted to enter this before the document opens).

8. All results will require a review, as the Proof of Address needs to be confirmed. Click 'change result' to update the response.

9. Within Change Result you can manually change the result of the verification below.

Result to change

  • Overall

  • Proof of address

  • PEP/sanctions

Change to

  • Requires review

  • Verified

  • Fail

Additional notes or comments

  • Add the appropriate commentary

Tick 'I have verified that this change is warranted', and select 'change result'.

10. The verification details will be updated as follows

  • Overall>Changed: Verified

  • Proof of address>Changed: Verified

The commentary added in the change result override will appear in the Notes.

Within the Perform CDD tab, the report will appear, allowing you to add any additional evidence or make a determination.
