📒 Firmcheck integration: Sodium

Link your Sodium clients to Firmcheck so your team can see AML status and risk level from the Sodium client record

Sodium is practice management software for accountancy firms. If your firm uses Sodium, you can connect it to Firmcheck so each Sodium client is linked to their Firmcheck record. Your team can then see a client's AML status, risk level and next review date on the Sodium client record, without switching between systems.

The integration is built and supported by Sodium, using the Firmcheck API. You can read Sodium's own overview on their AML compliance page.

What You Can Do

  • Connect once for the whole team. The connection is set up in Sodium's practice settings, and everyone at your firm can use it from there.

  • Link clients to their Firmcheck record. Pick an existing Firmcheck client from a list, or create a new one from Sodium. New clients are pre-filled with the name, client type, company number and contact details from Sodium. Individuals, sole traders and companies are supported.

  • Link clients in bulk. When you first connect, a mapping screen in Sodium's AML settings lets you match all your Sodium clients to Firmcheck in one go, choosing the match for each client from a dropdown.

  • See AML status at a glance. Each linked Sodium client shows the latest AML status, risk level, and next review date from Firmcheck, with a link straight to the client in Firmcheck.

  • Send contacts across. Existing Sodium contacts can be pushed into Firmcheck, or added manually during setup.

  • Create new clients at proposal acceptance. If you use Sodium's proposals, accepting a proposal can create the client and their contacts in Firmcheck automatically, ready for your team to start their AML. Your client doesn't see any extra step.

What Stays in Firmcheck

Sodium shows you where each client is up to, but the AML work itself is still done in Firmcheck. In particular:

  • ID checks are run in Firmcheck. You can't start an ID verification from Sodium, including at proposal acceptance. Sodium creates the client in Firmcheck and your team runs the check there.

  • Risk assessments are completed in Firmcheck. Sodium shows the latest determination (status, risk level and next review date) rather than the full risk assessment history, and new assessments are started in Firmcheck.

  • Status is shown at client level. Sodium doesn't show a separate verification status for each contact.

  • Matching is done by hand. Sodium doesn't suggest matches by name, so you'll choose the right Firmcheck client for each Sodium client yourself.

Getting Set Up

The connection is made from within Sodium, in the AML section of your practice settings. You'll need a Firmcheck API key to connect. If you're not sure where to find yours, get in touch with us and we'll help.
